Upholland Community band was founded in September 2019 by its current Musical Director and a parent of one of 3 children looking for somewhere to continue playing after leaving a junior school that they had learned to play various brass and woodwind instrument’s.

The band started with approximately 8 children and 3 adults who met once a week after school in St Thomas The Martyr church in Upholland Lancashire.

As a potential Community Band the idea was to attract local people from all backgrounds including those who hadn’t played for a long time and wanted to slowly ease back in to enjoying playing there relevant instruments in a friendly no pressure environment.

Just prior to Covid in 2020 the band had started to grow in numbers and had been offered another place to rehearse at Thomas The Martyr school just up the road however not long after the band had to cease meeting due to covid rules.

The band started to meet up again in spring 2022 and is continuing to attract more players and working hard to improve week by week and looking forward to performing locally in the near future.
